With the rapid development of electronic technology and the rapid popularization of smart grids, smart meters have become an important part of my country's smart grid construction. The long-term, accurate and reliable measurement of smart meters is related to the construction of "harmonious society, harmonious electricity". The crystal oscillator is a key component related to the accuracy of the smart meter. This article takes the HC-49S type quartz crystal resonator of Xingtong time-frequency as a representative, and specifically explains the role of crystal oscillator in smart meters.
Crystal oscillator and smart meter
The full name of crystal oscillator is crystal resonator, which is an electromechanical device with electromechanical effect. Usually in a very narrow range, the crystal oscillator can be equivalent to an inductance, forming a parallel or series resonant circuit together with an external capacitor, as the reference of the timing circuit, that is, it will oscillate after being energized. The frequency of oscillation is closely related to the shape, material, and cutting direction of the quartz crystal. The main electrical parameters of crystal oscillators are frequency accuracy and piezoelectric characteristics. The former determines the accuracy of the crystal oscillator timing, and the latter determines the stability of the crystal oscillator within the working range.
The smart meter is the smart terminal of the smart grid. It is no longer an electric energy meter in the traditional sense. In addition to the basic power metering function of the traditional electric energy meter, the smart meter also has two-way multiple functions in order to adapt to the use of smart grid and new energy. With intelligent functions such as tariff metering functions, user-side control functions, multiple data transmission modes, two-way data communication functions, and anti-theft functions, smart meters represent the future development direction of smart terminals for end users of energy-saving smart grids.
The application of crystal oscillators in smart meters
Smart meters are generally composed of two parts, one part is the measurement part, and the other part is the part with data processing and management functions.
The smart meter needs to be combined with a single-chip microcomputer. The internal circuit of the single-chip microcomputer needs to be combined with a crystal oscillator to generate the signal frequency required by the single-chip microcomputer. Each single-chip microcomputer system has a chip crystal oscillator. The crystal oscillator plays a very important role in the single-chip microcomputer system. The execution is based on the crystal oscillator. The higher the clock frequency provided by the crystal oscillator, the faster the microcontroller runs. The crystal oscillator works in a resonant state through a crystal that converts electrical energy and mechanical energy to provide stable, reliable, and accurate single-frequency oscillation. If there is no single-chip microcomputer, it cannot work normally.
